Charoite is a rare and captivating silicate mineral known for its swirling patterns of purple, lavender, lilac, and white, often with pearly or silky chatoyancy (a cat’s-eye-like sheen). It’s found almost exclusively in Siberia, Russia, near the Chara River—hence its name. With a Mohs hardness of about 5–6, it’s moderately soft and best used in pendants or spiritual tools rather than high-impact jewelry.
